Ward 6 is a unique area of the valley, home to special places such as Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, the Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument and historic orchards. It is a community where families can choose to make their home in beautiful master-planned communities like Skye Canyon or on open lots that run along horse trails.

Drawn to its dark skies and special landscapes, Councilwoman Nancy Brune, Ph.D. and her family chose to call Ward 6 home almost two decades ago. Nancy was elected on Nov. 8, 2022, to serve a four-year term and represent the residents of Ward 6. She grew up in a family that emphasized service to God, to country and to community, and she is committed to bringing common-sense solutions to City Hall and restoring public trust in local government.
Prior to running for office, Nancy served as founding executive director of the Kenny Guinn Center for Policy Priorities, Nevada’s only bipartisan policy center, for almost a decade. Her data-driven research reports and ability to work across party lines earned her the praise and support of dozens of political and community leaders. Nancy has studied and written on topics ranging from homeland security, energy security, economic security, workforce development, public sector reforms, education, and health outcomes. Nancy has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, reports, essays, blogs and op-ed pieces, and was a regular columnist with The Nevada Independent.
Nancy received her Ph.D. from Yale University and her Master of Public Policy and Bachelor’s degrees from Harvard University. In 2019, she graduated from the Stanford Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative program where she learned how to grow and support small businesses. In 2016, Nancy was appointed to sit on the President’s Advisory Commission for Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans. Currently, in her official capacity, Nancy serves on the boards of the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority (Chair, former Vice Chair), Southern Nevada Health District (former Secretary), Yucca Mountain Nuclear Repository Committee and the Nellis Civilian Military Council Executive Board.
