Nancy was raised in a no-nonsense, hard-working Catholic family in Texas that emphasized faith, public service, and civic engagement. Her dad served in the U.S. Air Force, her mom was a 20- year civilian employee in the U.S. Air Force, and her stepdad served two decades in the National Guard. Nancy’s parents were small business owners, which motivated Nancy to start working at the age of 14 and establish her financial independence. Nancy’s mother was born and raised in England and her father’s parents were born and raised in Mexico. Her parents both loved the outdoors and gardens so Nancy and her sister grew up with a love of hiking, fishing, camping, gardening, and making mud pies.

Passionate about traveling, Nancy has lived and worked in several countries. After college, she pursued her own service mission in rural Nicaragua and lived there for three years. While there, she trained as a nurse, led a youth health program, and helped rural women establish micro-enterprises to help their families.
Nancy has spent most of her professional career tackling big policy challenges facing our country and state. She worked on national security and homeland security issues at Sandia National Laboratories. She has also consulted with the World Bank, the Harvard School of Public Health, JP Morgan Chase, and the US Development Corporation. Nancy was the founding executive director of the Guinn Center, Nevada’s only statewide, bipartisan policy center where she researched tax policy, education, health care policy, and energy policy.

Nancy is passionate about youth development, workforce development, supporting veterans and our active military members and their families, and community service. She sits on several boards and commissions including the Nevada Commission on School Funding, Jeremiah Program, Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada, Jobs for Nevada’s Graduates, Nevada Humanities, Preserve Nevada, and CSN Institutional Advisory Committee. She has won several awards for her community service commitments.

Nancy is a huge animal lover. Her family has fostered dozens of dogs and kittens and they are the proud owners of three foster fails: a German Shepherd/Husky mix, a Black Lab, and a Pit Bull.
Nancy has run seven marathons and over a dozen half marathons. These days, she prefers her pickleball paddle over her running shoes. But she’s just grateful for the opportunity and good health to get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air and the beautiful landscapes visible from Ward 6.
Nancy has been a resident of Ward 6 (in the same home) in the City of Las Vegas for almost two decades. She is a wife and a momma of three young adults who attend CCSD schools.
